One Up! MoMA Acquires Its First Classic Video Games as Art
Hyperallergic has learned that through a quiet acquisition process undertaken over the past year led by architecture and design curator Paola Antonelli, the Museum of Modern Art has brought 14 video games into its collection as a “new category” of artwork.
Finally. All my friends who have argued with me and denied that video games are art are objectively wrong. I’m sure an apology letter and a “you-are-so-wise” plate of biscuits and gravy will be waiting for me when I return home.
All I could think was—-he ain’t gonna land that jump.
Presently: Pac-Man (1980) and Tetris (1984). Forty more will be added soon, including Pong (1972), Space Invaders...
