update: i have uploaded the entire mix to and lyrics to mediafire. click the links below to download them directly… without the use of the postal service. hey kiddos, i made a mix of music i enjoyed in 2008. yup. took a couple days but it was totally worth it. even better, all the songs on the mix, with one notable exception, were released within the last 2 years and came to my attention within the last 12 months so the mix has something of an “au courant” quality . though i’m not normally obsessed with the contemporary it felt good to make a mix of relatively new pop music i found enjoyable. and i do find these songs enjoyable. the mixup 2008 is 38 tracks across two discs. i measure the mix in discs because, get this, i fully intend to record these songs into a physical medium. i know what you’re thinking: “BUT SCOTT THIS IS 2K9, WHY WOULD YOU DO SUCH A THING?” well let me tell you why. because i’m planning on mailing a free copy of the mix (including lyrics and a short written message by myself) to all parties interested. think of it as a “get out of jail free” card for the birthday / kwanzaa / veteran’s day gift i will not or did not buy you this year. all this can be yours son of Terah. my only request is that you send me your address. if you wanna be a real pal, feel free to reciprocate by making me a mix of music YOU found interesting in 2008. or just write me a letter. maybe a high five? if anyone DOES have the decency to make a mix and send it to me (thanks for the Sinatra covers ma!) i will rehost their playlists here and then distribute THEIR mixes to any interested parties that also contributed. hopefully the mixup can connect some of my music loving friends with each other. scott.kane.stukel@gmail.com anywho, the track listing is below. i will post one song each day (in album order) until they are all on my tumblr.
